Finally watched Nomadland, which is wonderful, and so deeply sad
More than anything with a terrorist plot, this movie should terrify Americans.

Reportedly Frances McDormand was behind getting this project together, so not only one of the best living American actors but also a driving force in elevating this kind of testimony into the art sphere. I don’t think many people think of her in the same way they credit Clooney with this kind of work, so here I am posting and shifting that lens

@jsto before social security Americans worked until they dropped dead unless they had caregiver children. Everything old is new again. These times could become normalized again.

Have you read the book? I know most go to the movie. If so, was one better than the other?

Thanks for the info. 🙏

@J_Windrow Yes. & I haven’t yet read the book (nonfiction). The main character was gelled out of that, so not any one person, and I don’t think you’d lose anything watching before reading. While watching the film, I said to my co-watcher, this testimony from supporting characters feels real. Researching after I found that my director’s sense was actually right — nonactors from the book are in this movie: they tell their stories. McDormand chose the ideal director. It is sensitive and powerful♥️
