I've never been interested in meeting famous people. But there is one person I wish I'd met: Jimmy Carter.
He's not a saint, which is good, because saints a fanatics. He's that rarest of things—a good human being.
I've long known it was only a matter of time until we lost him. That time is rapidly approaching.
He's lived a long life. A good life. Soon ending.
I wish I'd crossed paths with him once. Even in passing. Because genuinely good people are hard to find.
@J_Windrow Totally agree.
@J_Windrow I sort of got to meet him (hand shake at least) at a literal whistle stop when he and Ford were running for president. Back then both candidates rode on the same train to stop and visit towns along the route.
@J_Windrow
He is certainly the embodiment of a good human being. Godspeed to Jimmy Carter.
