A seventh-grader just asked me who I was voting for on Tuesday (already voted early, but didn’t tell her that.) When I was in seventh grade, nobody asked their teacher, or friends’ parents, or even their own parents who they voted for…it used to be a sacred thing. I miss that.

@JLordanKelly I remember that, too, but I also think it’s kind of cool that kids are interested—hopefully it’s honest engagement and not a virtue test/picking sides thing they learned from their parents.

@SamaraR In this area, it’s not honest engagement, it’s definitely a virtue test. Part of the reason I voted early is because my voting place is at the Bible Holiness church, and they have a less than stellar track record of preventing voter intimidation.
