RZA
A Ballet Through Mud
"The Chinese Delegation takes...the RZA, the GZA, the WU-TANG CLAN!" ๐
Are you listening to it, TB? AllMusic blurbed it Friday and I promptly forgot all about it...
It's interesting just for being 'out of character' but it's impressive. I've liked his soundtrack stuff too. Not a Wu-Tang guy though.
I fell out with rap once Snoop became popular...'93. So hit me up for Ice T, PE, Run DMC, and a couple of KRS-One albums. And Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy.
That said, the youngsters I work with are all about it (and reggaeton and mariachi, etc etc) so there are decent tracks out there.
I mostly know of Wu-Tang via "Chappelle Show" and Jarmusch's "Ghost Dog." heh

โIโm going to do what I want to do, and this is my level of where Iโve evolved to.โ
Good for him and best wishes.
Checking it out now; recording quality is very good, kinda soundtracky. Not my thing...๐คทโโ๏ธ
Hard for some music peeps to make that "pop to classical/chamber orch" jump -- thinking of your fave (๐) Hornsby, Bjork, etc.
IMHO Zappa did it but I'm a FZ fanatic so ๐

I can't think of any other than the Moody Blues with Days of Future Passed a long time ago. I'm not a fan of rock/pop folks performing their material with an orchestra, as a rule. Some horns sure... some strings, love it...
@InUnfunky
interesting article. thanks
