All you TPHB megafans are gonna unfollow me when I tell you that I had tix to see them (with Joe Walsh, even!) in Hartford (7/14/17) but didn’t (sold the tix) cuz I checked out earlier setlists. 😱😏🤷🏻♂️
In the ‘80s I had few chances to see them — between Gainesville, Tampa, the infamous show with the Replacements opening in Orlando — probably with a setlist more to my snooty liking. Oh well, add it to my “missed” list.
What I always liked about TP & the Heartbreakers was that no matter the level of fame and all that they achieved, they always felt like just a band playing music cuz it's so damn fun.
Plus Petty is a helliva song writer.
