His taste in other musicians works is elusive as to style.
In terms of both the Chieftains and L Shankar, it's about "traditional music" and the commonality of drones. Which is partly why FZ (among other reasons) had that "salad party" with the aforementioned and the Ensemble Modern, to encourage members of the latter to improvise.
