Did you ever consider that the sheer negativity of the TFG campaign–which goes well beyond a negative characterization of the people they're running against to negating practically all American achievements and denying every bit of good news–is intended, not merely and maybe not even primarily to win an election, but is actually intended to depress and weaken the country as a whole? Or that this might be done in service to foreign powers that would benefit from a weaker U.S.A.?

@DavidSalo Russia's efforts on behalf of his 2016 are well documented. I don't see any reason why they would ever stop.
Tbf, the US hasn't been shy about influencing politics in other countries either, to say the least.
