@ArcturusSaDiablo OK, but the legend of St. Patrick includes the charming story of the king of Tara's thugs, lying in wait for Patrick and his brethren, letting a herd of deer -- really Patrick and company -- walk right by them. God could have hit the thugs with brimstone, turned them into salt, or sent bears to tear them apart, but instead employed an elegant ruse that saved Patrick without killing anyone. It was the first time God showed any sense of subtlety.
