I hate to admit this, but in case it helps someone else…

I think a big contributing factor in my wound debacle was that my tub of petroleum jelly was contaminated and started infection. Once I switched to a new container I got the infection under control.

So new rule: Buy ointments in squeeze tubes, not tubs.
