@HopeSeeker In America, lamb can be anywhere between 8 to 14 months of age. In Britain, they sell hogget which is between 13 months and 2 years of age. (I don't think I've ever even seen hogget for sale here.) #Mutton is supposed to between 2 to 3 years and is considered #slowfood. I think the only way I'd ever find mutton is if I sent an older sheep to the processor, which is something I've considered, but haven't decided on. If you see mutton as a grocery, let me know!

@SandHillThicket Sounds like I have probably only eaten lamb. Still, I did eat moussaka in Greece many years ago, so I am not totally sure. I was a student and it was not a fancy place. Some of the places we ate served fish and allowed cats on the tables indoors.👀

@HopeSeeker Wow, that sounds like the best experience ever! I love Greek food. It may very well have been mutton. It's just supposed to have a deeper flavor, so what people might describe as more "gamey"? I dunno. I bet I'd like it. I like gamey meats. The one I'm not sure I ever want to try is mature ram. I think that's more a Middle Eastern thing anyways.
