When I die I do not want a plot in a cemetery or a headstone for my body. I will be pleased if I am cremated, composted or returned to the sea. If I am lucky enough to have a wish honored, though, I hope to have a burr oak planted.
@stueytheround OMGosh, have you watched the series “This Is Us”? The bench was a tree stump.
@HopeSeeker No I haven't. That's a very cool idea though.
@stueytheround Literally - the shade is becoming more important every year! 🌳
@HopeSeeker l’m in the please cremate me camp. I want my ashes divided between whoever wants some and for those folks to sprinkle me here and there, in places they think l’d like
I do expect them to wait until after l’m dead tho!
compost me
let a beautiful
wayward tree seed
perhaps big leaf maple
land on me and take root
grow over a span of many years
to a majestic towering height
dropping giant red leaves
every autumn onto the space
where i first provided fertilizer
those leaves in turn
composting and feeding the soil
also being snacked upon
by giant slugs
extending their cute eye stalks
waving them about
to better navigate the world

@HopeSeeker
I’ve let my kids know that I want my ashes scattered in a particular spot in our orchard where we have daffodils.
They can have a rock from our beach engraved or whatever and placed there too.
@realDDGlover Wow, your tree(s) are built in. Elegant! (I am rather jealous.)
@HopeSeeker I, too would like my body to become tree food. I'd like for there to be a bench under the tree so someone can take their ease in the shade.
