The temp has dropped to 105 here, heat index 108. This poor hummer has been perched here for over 10 minutes. I have never seen them perch for this long until now. The bird sips occasionally, but he is just holding his mouth open most of the time. Maybe this helps with cooling? I fear this might be something like heat exhaustion in a human. 😢
@HopeSeeker My hummers are panting over here when they land. They rest, stop panting, drink, and fly off again. Rinse and repeat. Make sure your feeders stay filled through the week!
