HiPOD 19 May 2023: Inverted Channels in Saheki Crater

The large alluvial fans in the southern Martian highlands have the potential to provide key insights into the history of water on the planet’s surface. The ridges on these fans are inferred to be the preserved remains of the fluvial channels responsible for fan formation. Saheki is 82 kilometers in diameter and was named after Tsuneo Saheki, a Japanese amateur astronomer (1916-1996).
