You are right, but It strikes me as weird that even very smart people fall for that crap, people who otherwise would appear perfectly rational!
There may be an inner need for security and these folks believe only a strong man can deliver!
@Helveticus Oh, I think you're right on with that one. The first step to becoming a demagogue is to make people as afraid as possible.
@Helveticus Some people like simple answers to complex questions and demagogues deliver that. It allows them to turn their minds off.
