I stopped posting for a few days after Trump was elected, I’m still in shock, it is like a nightmare to me.

: The fascists invariably have the eager, if woefully ignorant support of large swaths of the working class and the middle class, not to mention a fair swath of academe, because the prey on misgivings, grievances, etc. they all have against some number of Not-We, and convince each group "We hear you!" and "We are you, too!"

Then they fuck them.

It's clockwork.

Then the useful idiots clutch their pearls and claim "We didn't know" when all the MFs had to do was look.

To Hell with them.

Resistance never goes out of style.

Europe:

What do we do about Russia?
What do we do about N. Korea?
What do we do about the US?

There are a lot of people out there who have experienced horrible, traumatic things, sometimes as children, sometimes as adults.

But for a big fraction of those people, I guess their reaction is not "I will make sure that what happened to me never happens to anyone ever again" but "It happened to me and I got through it, so it's okay if I do the same thing to others. They'll deal with it just like I did."

I don't really understand people getting more conservative as they get older. I've never had any of my life events push me in that direction. How do you spend your life caring about the well-being of other people and suddenly wake up and be like "F**k them"?

my to do list

stock up reasonably on nonperishable food
get papers in order (birth certificate, passport)
make decisions about big items I am likely to need (roof, appliances, computer) vs savings
support public institutions (npr, pbs)
support local and humanitarian causes (food bank, public library, world central kitchen)
fend off despair

It takes an awful lot of work to get a falsehood out of one's own thought processes–not only to admit that it was never true, but to stop acting as if it were true, which is even harder.

It's practically impossible to do this work for other people. With adequate amounts of pressure you can get them to *say* they've changed their minds; but they'll still go right on using their false belief as a basis for their actions.

You actually have to want the truth.

There is such beauty in America. Its mountains, its plains, its shores, its skies, its lakes, its p....

At least for the next four years, the true beauty of America will be its ... geography.

YOU HAVE TO BE REALLY CHECKED OUT OF THE REAL WORLD TO HAVE VOTED FOR TRUMP.

I just had to share what made me laugh today - hope they do the same for you! My favs this week.

I am bitter at what my country has become.
At least, the US government let me visit New Zealand for work. It confirmed to me that it is the land of honey (as far as, natural beauty and uncrowded).

are you afraid of LQBTQ? why?
are you afraid of POC or immigrants? why?
are you afraid of having your own life & your own agency? why?
if anything, the only thing women have to fear is men trying to once again subjugate them into household pets. are YOU going to allow that for yourself or your daughters?
