Oh last week I succeeded to explain to someone - That was great ! If you dont know it, search for it as it can be quite a tiring issue to control for whoever suffers from it. (i.e me !)

@Krysdammit Ah so I guess you know how hard it is to explain (people dont really see it as a problem most of the time.). Had this from when I was 6 and people were thinking that I was just you know.. haha. It's under control even if sometimes long situations under this intense stress get me very tired ! Nice to meet a fellow sufferer.

@Guillaume
As far as I know I've had it my entire life. It isn't just certain sounds, it's also repetive motion, certain behaviours of those closest to us. My sis asked me whether anything she did brought it on. OMG the list I could have handed her. Told her of 1 particular instance and made her so upset. Of couse I know that she didn't do itintentionally. I also know that she hadn't done anything wrong, socially speaking. But ugh, I coluld just choke her out when she does it!

@Krysdammit Ah yeah same thing with repetitive motions as well as usual behaviors/habits. Usually sounds and repetitive motions are the ones getting to me the most. I was even part of a study where they scanned my brain and making me listen to trigger sounds : ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/ to help me understand what was going on. Results were interesting (just go to Conclusions hehe)

@Guillaume
Thank you for the link. The rage and hatred that it induces is horrible. Then after asking the miscreant to "stop please", and they give you a look as if to say "you're insane". The feeling of persecusion, veing tormented and tortured by some one who whould love you.Then of course comes the mourning, because of course you can never see them again and will miss thwm. OMG!

@Krysdammit Oh Yes. And sometimes they are oblivious to how important this is to us. Here, I have my invisible ear plugs which remove quite a few trigger sounds and gives me this feeling of control, as for repetitive motions etc, I tend to try to break the circle by disrupting (in a good/hidden way) whoever is doing it. If really a bad day, I walk away with a believable excuse. If I find other tips in the future, I will share. If you have any - feel free to share also !

@Guillaume
Just having a name for what is going on is wonderful. that in itself is a great help. I thought that everyone was like this and better at getting through life than I was. Some of Mozart's pieces just about knock me out. It's the beat, rhythm that gets to me. Pulse races, heart skips beats, breathing restricted, naseau, spots before my eyes, and then fight or flight kicks in because I know I'm dying. It is truly horrible. Add to my combo platter asmr. I'm a mess! πŸ˜‚

@Krysdammit Indeed. When I discovered the name of this, I was also quite happy ! It's hard but it seems that we have both made it so far, so thats also great news !

@Guillaume
This is true. It's really hard to explain to some one that the music they've just put on because they love it and want to share it is torturing you. Other normal human things which everyone does induce rage and hatred which absolutely must be controlled, using our super human powers of self control. It's inhumane to keep it up after we ask them to please stop.
