The first place I ever saw professional sports in person. Connie Mack Stadium (formerly Shibe Park) in Philadelphia.

@Graci the first place, that I recall, seeing professional sports was hockey at the Checkerdome in St. Louis. My dad mentioned Rod Gilbert last night and asked if I remembered him, I said I must have seen him play at the checkerdome which my dad confirmed.

@Loffreni I just misread that as Rhod Gilbert and thought "I never knew the Welsh stand up comedian played hockey" 🤣 @Graci

@Loffreni Twice a summer my father's employer had a "family" day at the park. Dad would drive to where the bus loaded and we'd take a bus to the park. It was largely an excuse for the guys to drink and not have to drive much. We did that in 1970, 1971, and 1972, Then there was a strike and that perk was lost.
