You see bill after bill brought forth that does everything from ban drag shows to as much as an outright ban on trans people. Some are actually trying to make it illegal for ADULT trans people to have any gender affirming medical care and any mental health care if it relates to gender.
It's draining and triggering and anxiety inducing for those without mental health issues. But for those of us who do, it becomes crippling.
They won't stop until we're dead.

@Graci Those who claim to hate you fear you. They perceive you, or some idea you represent in their minds, as a threat. Hostility is a defense against fear.
Rather than admit they're scared, the offendant says "I hate you," because "hate" is a word of strength, while fear is seen as weakness. Hatred engenders avoidance, while fear may invite attack.
Hostility is an attempt to control one's fear by controlling the scary thing, by keeping the perceived threat at a safe distance.
...
@Graci In extreme cases, fear can lead to violence in an effort to not merely control the threat, but to eliminate it entirely.
What were seeing with all the hullabaloo over drag and trans people is an expression of overwhelming fear, stoked by RWNJ talking heads who are interested only in ratings or clicks. Mostly white, cisgender, heterosexual, Protestant Christian men see trans and gay people as an existential threat to A) their manhood, their maleness, their core identity...
@Graci ... and B) their sense of order in the world, which is scary for anyone. If the accept trans women as equal to cis women and respond to them accordingly (physical attraction and all), then what does that say about them? Does it mean they're gay and, therefore, "other"? Will they become a pariah, shunned by family and friends? And will God damn them? (Sounds stupid, I know, but they're really worried about that.)
This is the primary driving force behind the hate.
End.
@Graci Rethuglicans know they can't win straight-up. It's like when someone knows they're losing an argument and they start making jokes instead.
It's distraction and diversion, except #Trumpanzees are making themselves the joke.
@Graci Hatred is the bastard child of fear. It is fear by another name, nothing more. It is fear disguised as bravery, weakness dressed up as strength. Hatred is the plaintive wail of a small child, alone in the dark, terrified of the monsters he is certain are lurking within, coming to gobble him up. So, he cries, until mommy turns on the light and he sees it was only his teddy bear, lying in the shadows.
