@Bliss The NYT reprinted it concurrently. That article appeared in both the source you circled and the NYT at that time
@Bliss And their shitty coverage of trump was this weekend
@GlennS in what section of the paper?
I don't have a NYT subscription This is the only headline that I found in doing a google search.
@GlennS Thanks for posting this. Now it all makes sense. The Intl edition has to follow EU editorial standards. To us it may seem like glossing over but they are not allowed to post anti-semitic tropes in the headlines or in the article. Example: they can't use the word nazi.
Thanks for your patience and for helping to clarify.
agreed on nyt not being as hard hitting as they used to be. its why i have a WaPo subscription
Good night!
@Bliss The headline I posted appeared in US papers too. After a backlash across social media, it was changed to the one you saw. Here's some commentary on it. https://presswatchers.org/2023/11/did-vermin-mark-a-turning-point-in-trump-coverage/
@GlennS I began to see some of the heavy backlash this morning. I'll read your article.
I posted a free link this AM to WaPo's coverage of the "vermin" speech, which trump repeated at a 2nd speech and on social media. Check it out.
@Bliss Yeah, WaPo finally hit back hard against him. They didn't get the article out til sunday night, but they got it out there and it spelled things out well
@GlennS I hear the point you're trying to make. But what's in the image from Prof Shultz is constructed by him to illustrate his point, which points to one specific word (rather than the whole sentence) to elicit anger. This prof is not known for this kind of click-baity action. Him Posting an anti-semitic trope without the full quote, in the current climate, feels emotionally manipulative.
My reaction seeing his blue sky post: Is this truly the professor or someone posing as him.
@Bliss well, it's bluesky, not twitter. usually, people are who they say they are. going to bed. have a nice night. I will say that the point that I see driven home almost daily over there is the extent to which NYT coverage is failing miserably, whether it be about Biden, Israel, trump, or increasingly transphobic articles. The NYT is not the paper it claims to be.But I can't get started on this. It...is...bedtime.
