initial thoughts on counter. Social - it's a LOT if you're a twitter refugee. Took a few minutes to get used to all of the stuff on the screen. Needs reactions, and I'm not kidding about this. Maybe start in a "lightweight" mode and then people can opt in to the additional mania as needed.
Anyone know where I can send this feedback? :)
@brianplace
If you scroll down slightly the column will stop in place, then you can scroll at your leisure. I'm not used to the firehose spinning this fast either. 😂
@Krysdammit it's gonna overwhelm new users, especially non-technical ones.
@brianplace
It is a LOT! I know that. I was part of the influx in April which crashed the joint and made Jester work 24/7 to get it back up to speed. Everything is moving faster now than it was just those few short months ago. I've been here a while and it's making me a little 🤢 . We'll get used to it. They'll learn to use #s, we'll filter, they'll filter etc. They'll settle in, things will calm down somewhat.
@Krysdammit trying to put myself in the shoes of the average person (not the more technically inclined which are probably a lot of the early adopters) - the equation becomes "do I hate Elon Musk enough to spend time completely relearning a new social network which keeps throwing way too many things at me?" :)
@brianplace
I can only speak for myself. I was fed up in April when the announcement was first made. Not technically minded at all, one of the older nauts at 67 (next month!) and I was able to make the switch. It's the people who are here already who make the switch worth the effort.
The warm greeting upon arrival, telling us to jump into a convo.
No one telling me to stay out of another country's politics is a biggie for me. No one telling me to go funz myself is wonderful.
@brianplace I suspect that accounts on Twitter that I appreciate will add a presence here. I’d like to establish that network of specialists here in case either they or I can no longer tolerate Twitter.
