CHUTKAN says Trump's personal and professional schedule has no bearing on timing of trial. She compares it to a professional athlete facing trial. She said it would be "inappropriate" to set a trial date to accommodate that person's schedule.

CHUTKAN agrees with special counsel that Trump's team presented skewed statistics about the median length of time between arraignment and trial.

She also says SCOTUS precedent makes clear there's no correlation between length of DOJ invesigation and time defense needs to prepare

CHUTKAN emphasizes that prosecutors

"The manner in which the discovery in this case has been organized indicates that the government has made a considerable effort to expedite review."

CHUTKAN: "Let’s take the temperature down ... I understand Mr. Trump is presumed innocent, as is every defendant ... Let’s not overlook the fact that Mr. Trump has considerable resources that every defendant does not usually have."

CHUTKAN now wants to know why the case is "complex" other than the fact that it's historic. It's one defendant, four counts. Not particularly novel issues.

I'm no state governor, but when a guy who's been involuntarily committed and shouldn't be allowed to buy guns buys guns and kills people, that seems like a failure on the part of state government.

Good for them. The 2-tiered pay is bullshit and present an excellent example of why labor unions were initially created.
