@GeezerWench I don't have any of these spatulas but what about the ubiquitous black handles on other utensils? All those Oxo grips? If the black plastic part doesn't come into contact with the food, great, but what about our hands, gripping the black plastic handles that might contain "flame retardants and other chemicals"? (I don't expect you to provide The Answer, just wondering out loud!)
@CJLavoie I haven't a clue. I'd assume all those handles would have the same issue. I have several Oxo gadgets and I really like them. And the platic is from other plastic items we use all the time like phone, computers, laptops, tablet, etc.
I'd guess a difference would be that we can wash our hands after using the items. Refrain from licking them.
Try to only use stainless steel, wood, or silicone. I mumble as I look around at my black plastic stuff. My pen, calculator, mouse, laptop ...
