@GeezerWench i've always felt bad for kiddo because he had to walk about 2 miles to collect less than a dozen crappy little candies in our "neighborhood". at least half the houses just don't participate & the ones that do are so far apart... and yeah, i'm not driving my kid to collect candy (the point is being outside after dark & making up a costume), nor am i taking him to other areas with more houses.

@redenigma It's kind of like that here. Not so many kids around. Anymore, I leave a bowl of candy on the porch. We'll get maybe a dozen kids. In three groups.

Kids either get hauled down to the new-ish development or they go to these things, events, called "Trunk and treat." I guess they're parties for the kids? I've never seen one.

@GeezerWench the Rec department runs a Trunk or Treat here. it was at the ballfields, but this year they are having it at the old boy scout camp because they need more room.
people dress up their vehicles, & the kids walk from one to the next collecting candy. it's mostly for the under 6 year olds, i think. i've never gone because they're more candy grabs than kids testing out their abilities to move in a neighborhood in the dark & spooky. just another way to cripple kids coping skills
