@JanetZumba_FalPals Yes, those are my thoughts.
We have a few "smart" appliances now, but I don't use them like that. 😂
@JanetZumba_FalPals We bought a new fridge a few months ago and didn't go fancy. I got the ice maker, but not through the door.
I have to open the darn drawer to get my ice!
It's a French door, and it has a fancy drawer in the middle that can be used as a refrigerator or a freezer. That's fancy enough for me. I just hope it lasts. The darn thing was expensive.
@GeezerWench that is my level of fancy, too.
@GeezerWench
I don’t want techy shit. 😂
More problems
@GeezerWench
In fact, if the next house I buy has only electric for kitchen stove, I’m buying one with coil burners. I do not want to be limited in cookware choices, glass top is too damn sensitive.
@Anouk Now see? I like my glass-top. When you slop it up (when I slop it up) it's easier to clean because I don't have to take it apart to do so.
I grew up with electric stove with the coil burners. Used to do the whole thing if something boiled over or whatever. Unplug the element, lift out the bowl, reach down in the hole to scrub it out. Or lift the top. Seems like I had a stove along the way that the top didn't lift up like a car hood.
I even wrapped the darn bowls in heavy duty foil.
@Anouk Now-a-days, I just wipe off the glass, If stuff gets really stuck, and I'm feeling ambitious, I break out the Bon Ami cleanser, give it a good scrub. Wipe it clean, and I'll even wax it!
@GeezerWench vote with your wallet. don't buy "smart" appliances, and tell the manufacturer why you won't (shorter lifespan, cost, invasion of privacy, etc)
@redenigma I don't download the apps or any of that. I have enough things in the house listening to me.
It's just our refrigerator, and the washer and dryer right now. Frigidaire keeps sending me emails telling me to download their app and I keep telling them no.
@GeezerWench when I was buying a new refrigerator as I moved 5 yrs ago, the choices included the doors having televisions ... or, the doors could show what's inside. I just got a regular refrigerator, no fancy doors. It would be more likely to break with complex doors.
