That's such utter nonsense @GeezerWench - Frank Herbert's was written between 1963 and 1965 and published in book form in 1965. The novel was originally serialized in Analog magazine as two separate serials, Dune World (1963–64) and Prophet of Dune (1965).

@bfgreen @GeezerWench

er... ummm... and DUNE has nothing to do with STAR WARS.

@QueenOfEverything

The point is they are similar stories. Star Wars fan accuses Frank Herbert of stealing the idea and writing Dune. Since the Dune movies came out after the Star Wars movies. Star Wars fan is an idiot and has no idea Dune was written WAY before Star Wars.

Franklin Veaux, using snark and satire, spins a tale about how Herbert managed to steal the basic story line.

Dune doesn't have to have anything to do with Star Wars. They share similar story points.

@QueenOfEverything It could also be said that Harry Potter and Star Wars share similar plot points.

Harry Potter - orphan
Luke Skywalker - orphan

HP - raised by aunt and uncle
LS - raised by aunt and uncle

etc and so on. I don't remember Star Wars well enough to pick out the rest.
