I've been intrigued by the idea of a "social duty credit" system since I read Bujold's book Ethan of Athos. That society is all male, so sons are born from artificial wombs using cultured ovaries, and you can't have a son unless you have amassed a certain number of social duty credits. They have money too, but the idea of social duty credits has always intrigued me.

I'd love to see us use a different scorecard than money to define success.
