I've been watching some videos on Buddhism, just for fun, as its something Ive been studying and reading for years.

One of my favorite stories is the tale of the Buddah under Bodhi Tree.

I love the metaphor of all the demons coming out to stop him from being enlightened. Mara was _pissed_

That's kind of the way it goes for all of us. We have all these intentions, hopes of achieving, but life and noise gets in the way.

The Buddah gets it. That struggle he was going through under the Bodhi tree, is the way.

He didn't push, he didn't yell, he didn't shout down his demons. He accepted that they were there, and then did his work.

That's inspirational to me as I rebuild my routine, and face my daily challenges.

To me, and stay with me here, this mirrors Thor's fishing trip in the legends of my faith.

He's out there fishing, and hooks Jormungdar, and it doesn't matter to Thor that hes fated to die by this serpent, it doesn't matter that it's not quite ragnarok.

The trouble is right in front of him, and he's going to kick it's ass, because that's what Thor does to problems.

Hammer time.

While his boatfriend cut the lines, Thor was ready to be all about what he is about.

@NiveusLepus I’m an atheist now, but I studied Buddhism when I was living a very self destructive (in other words, ridiculously fun, but crazy and full of anger) lifestyle. It was THIS that pulled me out. It’s still what I go back to when shit goes down. And I love the Thor example. Life really is about what’s in front of you.

@Gambit_1 In my experience wisdom is where you find it.

Buddhism has many treasures, no doubt!

It's amazing to me how an answer can be one line that doubles as a lightning bolt.

Suddenly my entire understanding of what I've been looking at for ages changes...

Oh dear...

I hope as you have gone on from those days that you have found relief for your anger, and the troubles which challenge you.

@NiveusLepus actually, I have. When you stop worrying about perceived troubles and focus on today, you find that most of your anger is either in the past or in the imagined future. My temper will always be what it is, but it takes a lot to get me there. It’s just not helpful.

Or as I like to say, you only have a certain number of Fucks to give in life and as you get older and start running low, you learn to save them for things that really matter. ;)
