Today, my second oldest went to prom and I had my dad come out to take pictures. I had to apologize because I never went to a dance, much less prom, and I feel like I deprived them. Grandkids are my payback.
@Gambit_1 i never went to prom (i could never have afforded it & i didn't want my mom to feel bad she couldn't financially help & i didn't want to pay a penny of my own $$ i was saving for uni to go to a party). my mom is lucky i went to the grad ceremony, frankly.
don't feel bad. not everyone does all those things. you're not alone in that.
but my son did the whole shebang. prom, limos, dates, after party, etc. he had a great time. but he's not the same child i was.
@singlemaltgirl thanks. Money was definitely a factor (I was soooo close to making graduation… but that’s a whole different story and I still maintain that my English teacher hated me🤦♂️). I do appreciate your kind words though. I don’t feel much guilt in life, but I do appreciate my parents a hell of a lot more!
