This week is going to be a test of my patience and my ability to keep my mouth shut. Spoiler alert: I am not patient and my co-workers have nicknamed me "unfiltered" because I don't keep my mouth shut. If I'm lucky no one will call me and they won't ask me to attend any meetings. Maybe I need to add an extra mile to my daily run and double up on the valerian root. #notlucky #justbreathe #nobiting #morecoffee
@Foxthorn You definitely don't want that nickname. The nail that sticks out the most always gets the first hammer blows.
@MidnightRider I work directly with contractors; being unfiltered is a quality that works well in some circles. The hard part is when I have to work with other engineers who have very sensitive egos and think they know more than they do.
@Foxthorn You have to follow your compass. In my experiences the Fortune 100 is like that, a giant squid game where obtaining the job is easier than keeping it. As such great people are eliminated all the time so there is some logic to sticking to your own principles. One of my BFF's told me on his death bed he was proud to have stood up, I never forgot that.
@MidnightRider There's a reason I have never changed jobs :) When you find a company that's willing to celebrate your successes and work around your faults....they're a keeper.
@MidnightRider LOL you seem absolutely convinced that I'm risking my job over here. You can relax. I'm not.
@MidnightRider My mentor makes me look like a cuddly teddy bear. Being unfiltered is not unique in my field. I earned the nickname because I'm a woman and they didn't expect me to be one of the boys.
@Foxthorn Haha I'm relaxed, it's not my revenue stream to preserve. I'm staying with my contention that a nickname like unfiltered may be exactly what makes you wildly successful with your clients but a member on a list somewhere too.
