I kept wondering why the zinnias would lose their petals like this. It seemed odd. I finally figured it out. I watched a goldfinch busily pulling out the petals to get to the seed head. I saw a cardinal do the same thing.
They evidently prefer fresh food to what I have in the feeder! #Gardening #CoSoGardens

@Foxthorn I know! I keep picking off Japanese beetles and spraying with insecticidal soap, and find out, birds are the big eaters!

@GrandmaJ I've been focused on fighting the vine borers. They are vicious this year!!
