I will be preaching to the choir with this, but I have been thinking a lot about critics of @th3j35t3r and the way they complain about his unknown identity.

I don't know the identity of the person who refused insurance coverage for part of my healthcare

or who processes my tax returns.

or who has analyzed my scans...

All of these people have had SIGNIFICANT impacts on my life and health.

In the big scheme, soc med isn't on the same scale.

And these complaints are ridiculous.

@robfwtx until that stupidity was normalized and glorified. Eisenhower has wise words during a time when there was still common sense. Those words landed on receptive ears when politicians still had a sense of shame. Unfortunately, we're now in the trump era and common sense and a sense of shame are no longer available to republicans.

I cannot tell you how excited I am for my first real 3-day weekend in over 2 years. When I was assigned to contact tracing we had to work the holidays. We'd bank them, but we had to work them. (I don't count this past Labor Day, as my mom was going over the Rainbow Bridge.) I'm going to vacuum, make good meals, and give the Hounds of Love all the scritches and treats they want.

@Florence That's right, she sure did. Gen Z was very much present at the ballot box this cycle, but NOT in the way the wingnuts wanted. This was tried once when I was a youngster in the '70s, too. Didn't work then, either, because of that pesky constitutional thing ... but even so, if a person is old enough to get shipped off to a war zone to fight, as we were, then they're certainly old enough to vote for who sends them there.

@Florence Welcome here (from another recent arrival). I think more than a few of us are somewhere on the spectrum.

Newly-elected Republicans are desperately trying to distance themselves from Trump, knowing their seats are going to be flipped in a Presidential year.

If they want to distance themselves they can't support McCarthy or Scalise for Speaker ... let's see if they walk the walk.

We'll make sure voters know if they do boost Trumpers.

Just because a meeting is scheduled for an hour, but we get through everything in around 30 minutes, does not mean we have to keep mindlessly talking for the rest of the time. 🙄 😠
