@Florence If his synaptic function was greater, we still wouldn't know who he is and he'd still be printing money.
@MidnightRider True!
@MidnightRider I'm also a doctor so I totally identify with this!
@MidnightRider But we rely on folk like you. Without you, it'd be very hit and miss. And, yes, I used to say to Junior Drs pretty much the exact same thing. I usually said treat them as you'd treat your mom or dad. I worked in psychiatry and, trust me, we had plenty of jerks on my team.
@Florence Like I said not a doctor but my crowning achievement IMO was cutting the dose per image at a Children's hospital scoliosis clinic by 60%. Our company physicist and I were friends. He told me statistically I likely prevented a cancer in someone. AND that children is the story I'm telling St Peter gazing through parted finger when he shows me "the movie".
@MidnightRider @Florence excellent! I'm glad I stuck with the thread instead of grumbling because I muted the words in the original tweet.
Thanks for rewarding me with positivity. You should share this story separately so people won't miss it if they muted the negative 1st part πππΎ
@TheBoostress @Florence Thanks we weren't trying to be negative. I don't like posting that stuff because it makes me feel like that Springsteen song "glory days".
@MidnightRider @TheBoostress Never feel that way. It was a great achievement and I'm feeling more positive as a result. And I'm not sure what was negative either!
@TheBoostress @MidnightRider Definitely share it more widely. I agree. π€
@MidnightRider Somehow, I missed this toot. This is a glorious story. I'm so glad you shared it. Perfect for this time of year too. Well done, that's an amazing achievement and has undoubtedly saved many lives. β€οΈ
@MidnightRider I don't believe that for a second. But it made me laugh! π
@Florence No really, I was picking up trash and stamping road maps on random Saturdays by age 8. The mechanical gifts I received from my dad made me crave the bleeding edge of what we could achieve with what was then emerging new technology. I did almost all the company secret projects, I loved doing that too.
@Florence Additionally I think it's good to laugh at ourselves, my father set that bar.
@MidnightRider Totally agree. I always start with the premise that life is a series of absurd events and go from there! A philosophy I stole from Camus! π
@Florence @MidnightRider What a lovely and amazing exchange. Thank you both.
Also, Good Saturday Morning!π»βοΈπ»βοΈ
@ACG2 Thank you. It's always so positive when you learn things as a result of your toot, I've loved this thread too. xx
@MidnightRider @ACG2 Sometimes I wonder if we just look in the wrong places!
@Florence @ACG2 My exposure to the public is limited now. Grocery, gas dentist, that's not going to "get er' done". π But two weeks ago I was slipped a number at of all places IHOP but the woman was praying at my table. "Please Jesus reduce my stress so I can deliver these pancakes". Or something like that, she was attractive but I noped out. I'm like Spock, that interaction will not take place again for another five years.
@MidnightRider @ACG2 That's not something I would pursue either! But, it's all so random, for another customer that might have just been the connection they needed. That's why I think life is so random and so full of 'what if I hadn't done x, y, or z?' You just have to hope that those random connections (which often turn out to be the best ones) collide with you at the right time!
In your and my case, we could argue that the randomness worked! β€οΈ
@MidnightRider @ACG2 Life is full of 'paths less travelled!' Usually, that's my path, but every now & then, more sensible paths turn out to be right!
Difficult thing is we set challenges for ourselves far more than others set them for us.
I dislike it when folk say someone 'lost their fight' with cancer. It's not a fight, it's a disease, & some cancers kill you however hard you 'fight'. It pushes sufferer to feel responsible for their illness using such words.
We are our own worst enemies!
@MidnightRider @ACG2 I kept editing to make it fit! π
@Florence @MidnightRider @ACG2 I agree on the fight argument and the point needs to continue to be made.
@SECRET_ASIAN_MAN @MidnightRider @ACG2 It's semantics in a way, but it really IS important.
@Florence @MidnightRider Exactly! The imaginary ( or unknown ) timelines created by thought can collide and intertwine in unexpected and unknowable ways.
@ACG2 @MidnightRider Absolutely!
@MidnightRider @ACG2 That's it exactly. Serendipity is alive and well! As is chaos!
@Florence I'm not a doctor (I wanted to be one) But I understand the elements that create the best " image in space" before receptor capture as well as one. And I worked on the early digital capture both DR and CR iterations. But I learned to treat customers properly from my dad at a gas station. And doctors were my customers.
