I hesitate to say this but I think it's worth saying. If the bird continues on with this policy of allowing anyone to say anything, I fear that something of horrifically terrifying proportions will happen as a direct result. I mean, think of the worst thing and then times it by ten.

Will we THEN realise just how dangerous it all is? Or even THEN, will there be apologists for it? I suspect even then, there will be apologists.

Free speech is NOT free of consequences. Ever.

@Florence yes. I agree.

@MaSherry Absolutely. It's just terrifying to watch it happen. Even from a distance.

@Florence yeah. We're all scared and when push comes to shove we summon the courage or run like hell.

@Florence Did you happen to catch Roger McNamee at 6 on MSNBC?

@MistyKitty3 Yes, I did. I was watching it all evening to be honest and so many guests really spoke so beautifully.

@Florence If you haven't read Zucked, you should. Everyone who is still on should. It scared the crap outta me.

@MistyKitty3 Sorry, got a bit confused that, you mean the tech investor! Sorry, got him muddled with another guest. Yeah, I did see him. I'm not sure about him, he's been wrong a number of times. But he was interesting to listen to.

@Florence Yes, he was the original investor with Zuckerberg, tried to guide him, then saw that they were doing nothing even though FB knew what was happening about the disinformation, then he wrote the book about it. I like him. He plays music on Friday evenings on Twitter. The book though was very good & eye-opening.

@Florence Also, a sort of very brief recap of the book - iGen Politics podcast, with Jill Wine-banks and Victor Shi, interviewed him last year. It was fascinating. "available wherever you get your podcasts"

@Florence If a tweet lands in a forest (or dying hellscape) and there’s nobody there to hear it, does it make a sound?

@Florence the answer may not be censorship, but in definitively holding people responsible for irresponsible, dangerous speech. We do have laws, if anyone would enforce them.
