@LlamaMountainStudioArts When vegies are frozen, it mucks them up pretty badly and broccoli stems are particularly vulnerable to woodiness. When I make stir-fry, I like to get the stemmiest crowns of broccoli I can find and pare off the tough skin. It makes for a water chestnut-like crunch and without the stringy toughness.
