@rokkinbobokkin @grapho pelosi & Schumer both have to go. We're getting no where with boomers like them in charge. (full disclosure-i was born in late boomer range, but much greater affinity with millennials & younger-who are going to have to deal with the catastrophic effects of boomer actions/decisions)
@rokkinbobokkin even giving pelosi and schumer the ultimate benefit of the doubt, the problem is that they came of age in an era when basic decency [if not actual integrity and honesty] was an inviolable norm in congress.
[remember the famous exclamation of joseph welch to joe mccarthy in 1954?
'Until this moment, Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last?']
a bygone era.
@grapho it looks more like they grew up with performance civility. Seems they have no problem selling their voters down the river at all. Which, according to street smarts....is called "betrayal"
@rokkinbobokkin
that's a great term for it. 'performance civility.'
and you are right: selling voters down the river, to placate a megadonor, is anything but 'civil.'
it is not even DECENT.
it's despicable. it's betrayal.
@grapho @rokkinbobokkin an out of date era that no longer exists & is actively causing harm.
@rokkinbobokkin @grapho My issues is the same, & not surprised about her choice of who to support-we've seen that repeatedly. i'm more pissed at the abject lack of interest in actually changing policies that would help ppl. alot of talk & not alot of action, but always the demand to vote because "this is the most critical election of our lifetimes!!!!" It's all about donors & BS. I'm over it.
.
@FayreLylith @grapho
And she's in a safe district!!! How do we not get rid of her already!?
@rokkinbobokkin @grapho I'm a Leftist-farther left than the standard "liberal". We need to primary her from the left-the same way AOL won. The level of organizing would have to be tremendous, but I'd wager it could be done.
@FayreLylith @grapho they tried in 2018, a murky claim of indiscretion in the camp and that guy was gone before the vote. The weaponizing of #metoo. Never even got investigated.
Remember they tried that same sham on Bern?
@rokkinbobokkin @grapho They achieved that same scan on Sanders. They lost me forever after the debacle of 2016. I supported Sanders again in 2020, but after that I was well & truly over it. It would literally take someone like an AOC-with nothing to hide-and alot of $$ which for those of us on the Left(ist) & not aligned with the d party-is a challenge.
@FayreLylith @grapho I meant she was primaried in the Dem cycle the same time as the national.. I guess that was 2019. Never heard of the guy again.
Yeah . .gimme an AOC any day over these beggars.
@rokkinbobokkin @grapho Shahid Buttar was the candidate-and he was pulled off the rails by allegations of staff mistreatment. Sanders had to deal with the same. Only Sanders had a lot more experience in the political realm. I don't think Buttar was savvy enough to pull it off, but I can't fault him for trying. Another AOC with some staffer background...one could only hope.
@FayreLylith @grapho
Pelosi holds the donor purse strings. She'll still be in power when her brain is in a fishtank with a robot voice for performative bullshit.
@rokkinbobokkin @grapho π π π gdi...i don't doubt that you're right....fkkkkkk π π it actually would be funny-if it wasn't causing this country to come off the rails...
@FayreLylith @grapho
My problem is where she dumps money. All that tons of goodwill from Act Blue citizens all over... And she blows millions on a moderate woman in Kentucky who was neck n neck with a progressive running on French fries and hope....dividing the base and wasting money, against McConnell. Insuring his seat.
Next up? Blowing millions to endorse an ANTI CHOICE DEM, under FBI investigation, to squash a progressive, pro choice woman.. who is still polling higher than him.
