@pennyphilosophy Definitely time to stop drilling for oil in it, decrease our reliance on plastics which seem to somehow find their way into it in massive amounts. With the ocean warming more every year and melting of the polar ice caps our poor ocean and the creatures that live there are in huge trouble. We definitely need to do something more to regulate the fishing industries worldwide, methods used for catching fish, amounts that can be taken in a year, etc. Truly sad what we've wrought 🥺
@Embers
@Embers been crying/protesting the fukushima diaster response since it happened - disposible labor, plastic containers for toxic waste, runoff from under ground streams, the incredible delusion that dilution is solution to pollution - this will impact the future forever. Chernobyl leaking still, fighting endangering biggest reactor complex in Europe, and fools still building new ones.
this species is self culling, change averse and insists on shitting where we all eat.
peace, friend

@pennyphilosophy Then we have Japan getting ready to start releasing 1.3 million tons of radioactive water from the Fukushima reactor that was badly damaged by earthquake and tsunami 11.5 years ago. While filtered for most harmful isotopes it will still contain tritium which apparently can't be removed with any known technology. The International Atomic Energy appears to have approved the plan and the US has been on board with it since it was posed. Not good for our ocean or us. 🤬
