U2 - Happiness
[Official Lyric Video]
This one gets better the more times I hear it. I dig it. ๐ ๐
Up until this year, you could walk down those stairs and into a sandy beach that stretched out 10m to even 20m at low tide.
Now the councilโs had to put up barriers because itโs all been washed away. Iโve been here over 25 years and have never seen that before. Iโve seen a fair bit of sand washed away by storms for a few days, but it came back, and this time it hasnโt. ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Good result:
This is what has to happen when the major 'conservative' party veers off into radical authoritarianism: They have to be destroyed electorally. Otherwise, they never learn the lesson and just keep getting more radical.
We're lucky where I live because we can choose excellent Independent candidates who can actually do something in the Parliament.
But that's not how it works everywhere, so the only strategy is to vote for the lesser of two evils every time.
๐ At least the Scots and Irish get a bit of love from that flag, tho.
The poor Welsh miss out altogether, and we have to look at it taking up a quarter of ours and wondering why it's still there ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Look, bless his cotton socks. May we all find something in life that makes us as excited as young Lynton is about their Madges.
That said, let's just take a moment to note that this Australian monarchist super-fan chose to show his support by donning a jacket that *ONLY HAS THE BRITISH BIT OF THE FLAG ON IT*.
Kinda sums the whole thing up ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Good boi wants to vote too!*
* Or maybe he just wants the delicious #DemocracySausage his person is constitutionally obliged to get him on the way out of the polling place ๐
And for those who worry about compulsory voting, hereโs a thing:
On the left are 98 informal votes counted at the Ted Blackwood Community Centre. They can be mistakes or deliberately unfilled ballots, or whatever.
On the right, 2,569 total votes counted.
If you ask me, having a large turnout (always over 90% because you get fined if you donโt vote) and having 96% of voters make their view known is pretty bloody awesome.
The big Australian political parties keep trying to say that Independent MPs are a wasted vote but, yet again, voters are rejecting that lie in favour of an MP who actually represents their views and not the big party line.
In what used to be one of the safest Liberal (conservative) seats in the state, a locally based climate focused Independent is winning 2 to 1 ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Enthusiast.
I like guitars a lot. Maybe too much.
I also do music production and mix engineering.
