Sometimes, my friends ask me why I won't vote for the Labor Party and prefer independents. I like Labor policies well enough and vastly prefer them over the alternative government.
The problem is the corruption.
Where I live, it was obvious for decades. They've done good things to fix it, but even now, they have to deal with this ridiculous and horribly corrupt Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union, and it makes them look bad because unions=Labor Party and that hurts.
An interesting fact I learned while working at the Sydney 2000 #Paralympics:
Part of the reason that Team GB does so well at the Paralympics is that they basically invented them and have had a strong focus ever since. They came out of a program developed to help wounded WWII veterans get fit and enjoy some competition.
If you're interested, look up the Stoke Mandeville Games and you'll find out more π
Iβm watching the #Paralympics but Fraidyβs a bit more into her thang π€·πΌββοΈ
Heard on the radio that they're cancelling flights out of the airport today.
The wind's gusting up to nearly 50 knots across the two long runways, so that must be causing havoc with the heavier arrivals that need the longer rollout π¬
My dear departed Grandma crocheted that blanket in Manitoba π¨π¦ about 30 yesrs sgo.
Now my cat β€οΈS it and it makes me very happy
The white one is waaaaay less hot than my black 1990-91 Mexican Strat. The Mexican's pickups must have soooo many more winds π€·ββοΈ
Been A/B ing with the PartsCaster I made years ago to be like a 1962, and I gotta admit the new American Vintage white one is pretty cool.
My old one has Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups in the neck and middle but a Fender Custom Shop 'Fat 50s' in the bridge.
The advertised '1961' ones in the white guitar are simultaneously kinda open when clean and a bit dirtier on the gain channel. The Duncans are more defined, so you can hear all the strings in every chord to my ears π€·ββοΈ
Cool top 10 in the Paralympics medal count so far!
The Chinese Paralympians are doing so very well, but check out Team GB π¬π§! π
Having played Strats for getting on 40 years now, I pretty much automatically check that the tone controls are on 10 and then ignore them. Maybe sometimes roll off the neck one a bit, but that's about it.
So imagine my surprise when, after two days with this new one, I discover that the bottom tone control *IS FOR THE BRIDGE PICKUP*!
Mind = blown
Well, you'd hope so, wouldn't you?
It takes a fair amount of evidence even to be charged, so good riddance to that dude.
Meanwhile, I will work tirelessly to ensure that a decent independent wins in the imminent by-election because, well, enough's enough with those guys.
The electorate is just up the road, and there's an excellent candidate ready to go.
And then there's the wind.
My mum lives in a 17-storey apartment building, and it moves noticeably when there's wind like this.
So much so that her cat - who, like most cats, gets a little antsy in high wind - knows to stay away from windows and hide under the table.
Seriously, tho. I never love this, but at least in January I'm ready for it.
This is genuinely unpleasant.
Note: It may "feel like" 21.6ΒΊ if you're in the shade with a breeze blowing and a bag of ice on your neck, but it sure as hell doesn't feel like that where I am.
Another one to add to the "not a drag queen" list of people who harm children.
The Liberal Party is the more right-wing of our two major parties here in OZ, and the only time I've ever heard of the defendant was when he got upset at my local council for the Murdoch-invented non-crime of 'cancelling Christmas', so there you go π€·ββοΈ
Enthusiast.
I like guitars a lot. Maybe too much.
I also do music production and mix engineering.
