So, it turns out that 319,000 or so people bought the "Dynamically Priced" tickets, and they're now saying there's no space left for more shows.
If we say the average price came to $300 or so, that means Oasis and Ticketmaster will take in $95.7 Million or $US 64.3 Million for 5 Australian shows - if they can keep themselves from trying to kill one another for that long.
Not a bad superannuation fund I guess π€·ββοΈ
@DyDave Damn $800????? That's almost our rent for the month.
Right? And by *VERY* shitty seats, I mean *VERY VERY* shitty seats. In the second tier at the far end of an 80,000 seat stadium shitty.
Still, people are buying them, so good luck to 'em, I guess. If the tics average out at, say, $300 each, that's a $24 Million payday, and I was trying to buy at the SECOND show π
Liam might even break into a smile!!
@DyDave It's gross. I can't think of a better description than that.
The fun part is that they've left space for at least one more show, so it's very likely I'll end up with better seats for $180-$200 each, while everybody who bought today paid through the nose.
Ticketmaster is among the worst entities ever.
@DyDave Gross.
@DyDave If they were selling tickets to the second coming and proof of god I still wouldn't pay 800 bucks. I'd wait for the bootleg.
@Tacitus_Kilgore Bootleg Second Coming should be an album title! @DyDave
@stueytheround You're the musician friend. Run with it! @DyDave
@DyDave didn't you know the prices before you queue'd?
i'd be pissed to wait that long if i didn;t know how much it would cost me. π€
The problem is the prices change according to demand. They call it "Dynamic Pricing" or sometimes "Active Ticketing" if they're feeling euphemistic.
I call it "A Scam" or "The Inevitable Outcome Of Late-Stage Capitalism".
You also can't know what seats will still be available when you get to the front of the queue, so you have to wait to find out both if you want to go to the show. π€·ββοΈ
They'll sell out 2x80,000 shows, so people will pay. And while peeps pay, they will do it.
@DyDave wow! i am so glad i don't like to go to concerts. i'm sorry you had to wait so long to find that the prices had been jacked up so high. ugh.
Thank you! π
TBH, I knew the score going in.
And, I'll still have another go if they announce a third or fourth show, too π
There are way more than 160,000 people who'll want to go, and the prices will probably be lower, too π
@DyDave π€¦ββοΈ
@Tacitus_Kilgore π
Well, I finally got to the front of the queue, but if they think I'm gonna pay $800+ for 2 *VERY* shitty tickets so that Noel Gallagher can keep living in his golden palace after his messy divorce, they oughta have their heads read.
"Active Ticketing" in action.
