They make concert tickets expensive because people will buy them. All the rest of the rationalisation is nonsense.

@DyDave back in the day (late 70's, early 80's), i used to go see bands like ELP, Kansas, Boston, Molly Hatchet, and Heart for about $20. back then, concerts were only to support album sales. now, there's no money in making music except for concerts. and industry greed has always been in the biz (they used to skim it off the album sales)
Absolutely right. I know first-hand how hard it is to make any money from music these days.
What gets me is the lies the ticketing companies tell about it. It's not to stop scalping, it's the natural outcome of unregulated market capitalism.
Indeed, that article makes a good point in that it's already illegal here to sell tickets for more than 10% over their face value, so selling similar tickets for different prices actually makes it impossible to tell what the face value is 🤷♂️
