The A-10 has only survived in USAF inventory because we have spent 20 years fighting assymetric wars in which it excelled.
It's quite simply no longer a survivable platform inside a modern battlespace.
Prove me wrong, but show your workings in the margin.

@JolieSaboteuse I agree, but I also think its a matter of function. I've seen them in action against ground forces, and for that purpose they are incredible. But if we're comparing it to a 4th or 5th generation fighter aircraft its laughably outgunned.
But what is the military without blind devotion to outdated ideas.
