WTH?!? I'm hearing a series of explosions somewhere off to the northwest of me. It started a minute ago with a rapid series of pops, followed by a BOOM a second later. It continues now, about 2 minutes in. Sounds like it's coming either from the port or Naval Weapons Station Annex, about 2 miles from me. Sounds like ammo or fireworks cooking off.
It's slowing down now, almost stopped. It's been 3 or 4 minutes now.
Picking up again.

@Cryspeg There are no parks in the direction of the noise, only a Navy base, port terminal and industrial district, with a paper mill and fuel terminals. It came from somewhere between the paper mill, port and the base. I can't find a listing for a scheduled fireworks display here tonight and, last I checked, we don't usually celebrate President's Day with fireworks. I'm not sure what's going on. First explosion occurred around 8:43 p.m.; the last was at 9:01 p.m. EST.
