Agreed. There's an entire side of my family that I haven't spoken to (nor have they attempted to speak to me) in 25 years.

Blood relation doesn't make someone "family," but our society thinks it's absolutely terrible to cut abusers and liars out of your life.

@Tarnagh @CriticalCupcake Forgiveness doesn't have to mean "staying with the abuser for more abuse".

It can mean simply saying "We're done. No debts, you don't owe me anything, it's over. We're even. We don't need to speak any more, you go your way and I'll go mine. You don't need to make good on the wrongs you did me, I'd rather just write it off".
