Preserve & defend are both synonyms of support.
If we start getting into the use of specific words, then I can say, "I unalived someone, but you can't arrest me bc I didn't say I killed them!".
We all knew how fucked this country would be. Less than half of 2016 voters disagreed, but we still ended up with this reverse midas.
@CriticalCupcake If he didn't swear the oath, then he wasn't president at the time he did a bunch of things that it would be illegal to do if you aren't the president, in addition to all the things he did that were illegal even if a president does them.
