I believe that one of the core issues with modern economies - and globalized capitalism in particular - is that they put very little if any focus on resilience.

Way I see it, resilience is actually more important than any other factor with respect to the economy and governance; it is *inevitable* that things will go horribly wrong in one way or another over the long term, so setting up society to minimize/withstand the consequences when that happens is absolutely crucial.
