@pkatlga23 Much of what Trump says is just hot air, but he has long expressed a desire to raise tariffs. It probably won't be all at once, but I can imagine him doing it over time. Mostly he's talking about 10-20%. The exception is for China, at 60%, but I suspect he can be easily bought.
And as he consolidates power, popular support will become less important. This was not just another election.
@Coctaanatis If he is able to do some of what he promised and the economy tanks, his sycophants and voters will jump ship so fast he will be dancing in the oval office alone. Many of his voters have never liked him, just voted for him because they believed he would be better for their pocketbooks.
