Video without audio was shown, so all we have is what the sheriff says, and he allegedy said, "They're trying to kidnap my wife and kid."
Who is "they're"? Why was it necessary to shoot the judge rather than simply have him arrested?

I caught that, too. Sounds like paranoia. They said they haven't examined the daughter's phone. Seems like they need to do that asap.
