TikTok collected data about its users’ views on sensitive topics and censored content at the direction of its China-based parent company, the Justice Department said Friday, making its most forceful case to date that the video-sharing app poses a national-security threat.

@Coctaanatis true enough. but i also get the sense this is info the american govt & some powerful lobby groups - christian nationalists looking to ban abortion, nra looking to protect gun ownership at all costs, etc.
i think hostile foreign powers know the us is a mess & have been taking advantage for years thru social media. russia in particular. & china has quite the espionage network thru our use of their tech. 🤔
