Some Independence Day trivia.

. It wasn't an official U.S. national holiday until 1941.
. John Adams thought we should celebrate July 2nd, instead.
. I grew up outside of Massachusetts, and the big celebration was on Patriot's Day, which celebrates the Battles of Lexington, Concord and Menotomy.
. Vicksburg surrendered to Gen. Grant, on 7/4/1863, and didn't observe July 4th as a holiday for 81 years.
. Other, but not all, former British colonies celebrate their own Independence Days.
