Curleyism, named for the 20th century Massachusetts politician James Michael Curley, has been defined as, "increasing the relative size of one’s political base through distortionary, wealth-reducing policies."

In the US, it has typically been associated with city-level politics, but I wonder if we're now seeing it at a state or even national level.
